Our tutor is a Real Estate Investment Manager with years of experience in interviewing and assessing Analyst/Associate candidates.
A key part of the interview process is an assessment of the analyst’s ability to use Excel to put together an appraisal/investment reccommendation using given material under a level of time constraint.
We have compiled over 50 practice cases/solutions for all levels of ability/complexity from Basic cases requiring 1-2 hours, typically administered to Graduate Analysts, to more complex cases of 4 hours+ that are typically administered to more senior candidates.
Basic Interview Excel Case (1 to 2 hr)
Description: A time-pressured 1 hour ‘fill-in-the-gaps’ financial modelling test administered by the largest private equity real estate investor in the world
Features: Yields, Growth rates, Debt, Amortisation, Cap Val, Sensitivity
Intermediate Interview Excel Case (2 to 4hr)
Description: A full afternoon case study involving building a model from scratch, preparing an Investment Committee paper and providing a recommendation.
Features: IC Summary, Annual Cash Flows, Capex, Refurbishments, Dilapidations, 3 new leases, Rent Reviews, GP/LP Profit Share
Advanced Interview Excel Case (4hr+ or deadline within 1-2 days)
Description: A case designed to be completed over the weekend. Candidate is expected to research market, find comparables, build a cash flow, research tenants, draft an IC paper and look at various scenarios.
